Welcome to The Edit.
I want to be honest about what this is, because so much of what arrives in an inbox arrives loud. This won’t. Once a week: a short piece of writing and, soon, a small curation — a few things worth your attention, one line on why. It’s meant to be read with coffee, not triaged.
Here’s the thread I’d like to follow with you.
We’ve been taught to think of living well as something that happens to the organized, the disciplined, the ones who finally got it together. As if it were a reward at the end of enough effort. I’ve come to think that’s the wrong shape entirely. A life that runs well isn’t stumbled into by the deserving. It’s designed — quietly, deliberately, by someone paying attention to the right things.
So that’s what we’ll do here. A slow walk through what a designed life actually looks like, one piece at a time. Not a system to adopt. A way of seeing, examined out loud, that you’re welcome to try on.
No homework this week. Just the frame: living well is designed, not stumbled into. We’ll spend a while inside that idea before we do anything with it.
I’m glad you’re here. Talk soon.
